Tax on state pension an ‘insult’ to older people

The Treasury has rejected the idea of "exempting the state pension and other benefits" from income tax after campaigners petitioned Downing Street to lift the tax threshold for state pensioners and to commit to increasing it in line with triple lock rises in the future. The Silver Voices group described the response as "disdainful" and an "insult to all older people."
