Income tax blow for Scots

Scotland’s finance minister Derek Mackay has announced that the £43,000 threshold for the country’s higher income tax rate will increase by only 1% in April. He had previously said it would rise in line with inflation. The about-turn will mean 18,000 lower earners are dragged into paying higher rate tax when they get their annual salary increases.
