Martin Bentley, a former HMRC worker, has been ordered to pay £20,000 in legal costs after a tribunal dismissed his claims of disability discrimination. The tribunal found no medical reason preventing him from returning to the office post-lockdown. Bentley had worked from home since March 2020, despite an Occupational Health report stating he could work in person. Employment Judge Dawn Shotter noted that Bentley acted "vexatiously and abusively," and his claims had "no reasonable prospect of success." The tribunal concluded that Bentley preferred to work from home rather than being unable to do so.
